Post Concussion Vision Syndrome (PCVS)

downloadThe most common vision issues seen following a Concussion or Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) are convergence insufficiency, accommodative insufficiency, and saccadic dysfunction. Frequent visual symptoms associated with PCVS/TBI include unexplained vision changes, sensitivity to light, motion hypersensitivity, and decreased visual processing speed. As the visual condition is diagnosed, it can be successfully treated with Neuro-Optometric Vision Rehabilitation, which could include the use of lenses and prisms. Tinted lenses can be utilized to decrease light sensitivity, and binasal occlusion may help with motion sensitivity. People with visual field defects or difficulty with spatial localization may benefit from the use of prism.
